If you are considering selling an artwork, our art specialists can provide a free initial estimate of its value in today’s auction market. We provide appraisals online, at our offices every Wednesday afternoon, or at your premises for significant collections. Please note that Menzies is a secondary market for art, so we cannot value new works that have not already been previously sold in the primary market.
Our art specialists are available at both our Melbourne and Sydney offices every Wednesday afternoon between 2pm – 5pm for complimentary art appraisals. There is no need to book an appointment, just bring your artwork along anytime between 2pm – 5pm.
Due to the current COVID-19 stage 3 restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne, our regular Wednesday appraisal afternoons are not currently operating in our Melbourne office. For the time being, we ask that all Victorian clients submit their artworks for an online appraisal via the form below. Wednesday appraisal afternoons will still be running in our Sydney office.

To submit an online art appraisal, please fill in the form below. Our specialists will appraise your work and respond to your query within 3 - 7 days. You should receive a confirmation email a few minutes after your form has been submitted. If you have any problems submitting your artwork online, please telephone us on 03 9832 8700 during business hours and we can talk you through the process.

Menzies offers a wide range of formal valuation services to private collectors, corporations, government organisations, executors and financial advisors. Valuations can be for insurance, market appraisal, probate, family division, donations under the Cultural Gifts program or leasing.

All valuations include an accurate description and accompanying photographic records of each artwork and are undertaken on a strictly confidential basis.

Valuation fees:
$275.00 for the first item;
$55.00 per item thereafter;
All prices are inclusive of GST

A reduced fee is charged for updating existing valuations that were originally undertaken by Menzies in order to keep your valuation current. Valuation fees are rebated if paintings included in the valuation are then consigned to us for sale.

Please don’t hesitate to contact our Sydney or Melbourne offices should you have any further enquiries regarding these services.
