'Commenting on the potential of montage techniques to reveal truths Walter Benjamin wrote that the superimposed element disrupts the context in which it is inserted. With this strategy Will Nolan is perhaps asking us to consider that the photographic image signifies itself and something else, in this case what Nolan calls the conceptual space between images.1
