The lasting memory of the March auction for me remains three works by Arthur Streeton.

Arthur Streeton is undoubtedly one of Australia’s most important landscape painters and a founding member of the ‘Heidelberg School’ group of painters.

Streeton’s time spent in Venice whilst on his honeymoon in 1908 is possibly some of the happiest of his life and the work he produced from this period is testament to this.

Streeton returned to Australia for a holiday in 1907 after many years in England and spent much of his time prolifically painting the landscape of his birthplace.
