Important Australian & International Art | April 2025

Menzies' first auction of 2025 presents an exciting selection of fine art, offering something for every collector. Highlights include bastions of Australian art, Arthur Streeton and Rupert Bunny, alongside esteemed contemporary artists Howard Arkley and William Robinson. The sale is led by two remarkable abstract paintings by Brett Whiteley, originally showcased in his inaugural solo exhibition at Matthiesen Gallery in London in 1962. These masterpieces are exhibiting in Australia for the first time ahead of their auction debut, having only recently been repatriated after more than sixty years in the collection of intrepid American collector Kaaren Lynn Welo.
