Menzies is pleased to present for private sale Arthur Boyd’s charming Child and Birds in a Landscape.

This circa 1970 composition is a textbook summation of Boyd’s best characteristics: dynamic, impasto brushstrokes; the blue Australian sky against the golden wheat plains of his beloved Wimmera; and the sharp black daubs of paint that are unmistakable as birds, ubiquitous throughout Boyd’s landscapes. The child playing in the parched, scruffy countryside alongside the eucalypt and the crows evokes a quintessentially Australian childhood, reminiscent of his own.
