Kiss of the Angel 2003 is a striking exploration of intimacy, desire and poetic lyricism. Born from Shead’s acclaimed Artist and Muse and Dancers series, this work shares their hallmarks of romantic symbolism and dreamlike allure. 

In a notable departure from his typical portrayal of a nude female muse, here Shead depicts the angel clothed in a delicate dress while the male is bare-chested, suggesting an equality and shared passion between the figures. Their embrace recalls the floating reveries of Marc Chagall, as they drift beyond their domestic setting into a timeless realm of desire and imagination.
