Menzies is pleased to present Kata Tjuta 2010 by Tommy Watson for private sale.

Tommy Watson’s spectacular paintings have captivated the art world, attracting strong demand both in Australia and internationally. Characterised by bold, vibrant palettes and meticulous dot work, Watson’s paintings are both spiritually resonant and visually striking. Kata Tjuta 2010 is a superior example of his revered style and serves as a testament to his intuitive artistry and profound cultural knowledge.

Watson began painting in 2001, well into his sixties, yet rose rapidly to critical and commercial acclaim. Deeply rooted in his cultural heritage, Watson’s practice is informed by the topographical landforms of his homeland, including Kata Tjuta (also known as The Olgas), and the Tjukurpa laws that underpin it. His art brings to life the stories passed down by his mother and grandfather, offering a rich visual language that reflects these important ancestral narratives.

The painting is available to view by appointment in Menzies’ Melbourne gallery.
