The snake vine is an important ceremonial item. It is used to bind branches and feathers to the dancers bodies so it is especially revered. The vine is illustrated by the sinuous lines and the dancing women by the U shapes. The brillant colours represent the country to the west of Yuendumu where the vine grows.
