'In 1955, Blackman was living in Avonsleigh, Victoria and later in Tambourine, Queensland, painting as many as two pictures a day. Mostly landscapes, many of them moonlit with empty, haunted roads, they began from the world around him but were illuminated by memories of tramping the roads in 1950' (Mathew, R., op. cit, p.5)
